Laptop recommendations
Well Christmas is coming up in a month or so, totally skipping Thanksgiving with all these commercials. So I'm getting a new laptop soon and I don't know which. I saw that ASUS is a good gaming laptop, but their prices are so expensive. I've been browsing the Internet for days and couldn't find a decent gaming laptop that is within my budget. ($500/$400 - $100) I'm not a computer wiz so I don't know jack shit about laptops, all I do know is that I need a gaming laptop, preferably cheap ASUS ones. Just hope you guys could fill me in on Computer techs and what to search and to aim for.

Laptops are expensive to start with, usually they fetch twice the price of equal hardware on a desktop, and even then they won't perform as well because of the size restrictions placed on a laptop (for example much smaller heatsinks and much worse airflow).

What games do you want to play? I don't think you can get much in the way of a gaming laptop for $500. But you could check out MSI and Clevo, they often have decent laptops fairly cheap.

Why do you want a laptop? You might be better served by getting a cheap laptop for <$100 and then spend the rest on a desktop (which is upgradable, and a more efficient use of money).

By the way, ASUS has notoriously bad build quality and customer service on their laptops. So I would avoid them anyway.

Well Desktops are generally more powerful for gaming. Would you be able to expand your budget by 200$?

I've always wondered why in these threads about laptops people just say, "buy a desktop". there are several reasons why I use a laptop over a desktop but still want a good 'gaming' laptop in order to play games. I'm not sitting at my desk exclusively playing video games, you can take a laptop pretty much anywhere and I personally make most use of my laptop in class. I mean, if this guy is going to be exclusively sitting down to play games on this laptop then yeah, get a desktop. but if he needs a laptop for other things you might as well get both features in one.

that's just my personal opinion though, I'd never get a cheap laptop for school work and a desktop because I don't care to run everything on ultra settings for the 'perfect gaming experience' I just want to be able to do my work and sit in my bed and play a video game right after. regardless, a friend of mine showed me this: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops.../y-series/y50/

looks good, good specs, and fairly cheap for a good laptop. you won't get anything decent for $500 to be blunt. so in this case, if that's really your budget, and you just want a machine for games then you might have to take these guys' advice and build a computer/buy a desktop. but if you want a laptop and you want to play games on it, you're shit outta luck with 500 bux.
Mwah is righttt.
Lenovo is very efficient. I have one and I love it.

I just have the g series though - http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/g-series/

It is more affordable than the y series amd still works well. I can play GRAV 30fps. I specifically use the g500, but I would not discourage getting one of those.

You should check it out for sure.
Chickster: I literally don't know why I did it.

I play games such as Dota, LoL, TB, and some WoW. But my laptop can't handle these games, except for TB. TB usually runs a good 30 fps. But any other games would break it. For now I stick to consoles some times. I want a laptop for many reasons. I'm on the go a lot, and I'd love to play while I'm going from place to place. Well Desktops I don't really prefer since I'm not really tech-y with upgrading desktops, nor building one.

Oh and thanks for the heads up for the ASUS thing.

I don't think my budget would count on that XD
And I'm not really looking into desktops

Can I take your word and go for it ?

The laptop I'm using at the moment is an HP, it doesn't run really good for the games I play, so I stick with TB, which runs a good 30 fps.

^ I wanna take my lap top on the go, do my work and relax with playing video games. Regardless of the "perfect gaming experience. I don't really care about perfection, I just want a lap top that works really well.

Ty for the suggestion, Lenevo really looks good. Especially that G-50, I love it, just one issue, what is an eCoupon, and how do I get one?
