It could be the same age people are allowed to use tobacco.

It's not about free will, it's about how ignorant people abuse this drug, and use it to make money, it's about minors getting mixed in with the terrible adult figures and becoming them as they grow up.

People know that tabacco is killing them, it says so on the box. But they still do it anyway.

People smoke weed knowing full well that it stops brain cells from functioning. Yet they still do it anyway.

They think that this is all about free will, but it's not. We're protecting you and other people all over the world into making choices that will ruin your lives.

There are reasons why crane operators have to have a drug test, it's because they need to ensure the safety of the other workers.

It's not the governments fault that you guys want to smoke weed because you think that you can do anything because it's a free country. Think about it for a second, why are most homeless people on the streets begging for your money? It's because they all had a problem, which more than 50 percent of the time was related to drugs, even vaguely.

Weed is also a very common "gateway" drug where people will switch to something much more stronger to get that better high. Right there is when people's lives go straight down into shit.

Drugs aren't cheap, and they are highly addictive ( maybe not so much weed but still) so people will need to get them or else they will suffer withdrawal symptoms which can be brutal.

People say it can be used as medicine. There's almost always another option that you can use, many people I know use that as an excuse to smoke weed.

I also somewhat see what you guys are saying that it could be for the better because keeping weed illegal is expensive. And we could use the money for something much more practical like better healthcare for some other countries. But may that be the case I see more wrong than right, because not only will we have people driving drunk but people driving high. That is definitely not something that we should let stand.

Also not really a valid source, but if you guys ever watched that family guy episode where they legalize marijuana it does not turn out pretty.

tl;dr: Weed is bad, don't do it unless you have self control, which I doubt you guys will have. Which coincidentally will cause you to go to jail.

@maxmurder(previous page)

treats aids. next joke....
they have ARVs for that... the weed is just for the fun of it because when you're high you forget how fucked messed up your life is.

also i live in South Africa. Aids is a huge problem throughout Africa and so is Marajuana. I can say from personal experience that weed is not good for you.

minor crime? i smoked weed, it is not harmless. true it is a gateway drug. but that does not make it safe to use and I believe the use of it should remain prohibited.

But the same people are very prone to other addictions and are thus not doing a very smart thing.

Ok, let me rephrase what you just said.
1. Weed is not addictive.
2. Some people get addicted to weed.
3. People who get addicted to weed are weak, therefore statement 1 is still true.

It is true that weed is not addictive as other drugs. But there are still many people who do get addicted.
According to this around 9% of regular users develop serious addictions.
I'd say that is a lot, considering how many people do use weed regularly.

Its not really about the fact that its bad for you its illegal because the government etc cant make money off of it. Same with shit like pirated movies and copied games. I think its simply the fact that they dont want people making money from this type of shit. However the things that are bad they can sell to people like beer and drinking products same with Those drugs that are legal. However I believe it may be for the best that its illegal and its under closer raps cause if it wasnt it would be over used and abused, just like anything thats addicting and becomes a habit. *this has happened before so dont go omg thats stupid before i even type it* Even drinking water or bathing to long or to much can be bad for you believe it or not. Anyways the second think that tri guy said.

"cut the chase, we are talking about usa were all the drugs and stupid shit happens"

I think thats an unjustified statement because these drugs werent always in usa. they are now because of meddling. Besides most of the reproduction and restocking of illegal drugs is done my law enforcement and government to "catch people" when all it really does is make it worse.

Tay has a point. I've smoked pot for a lot for years now, and my views on this have changed as I grew older. I used to think that legalization is the way to go but now that I've grown older I believe that weed should just be a controlled substance under the condition that proper bills should be written to protect those who grow, sell and use cannabis and cannabis related products.

I also think that the gateway theory is a load of bullshit, that argument is flawed. to say that cannabis is a precursor to hard narcotics is like saying that water, juice or milk is a gateway to alcohol.

xxvlc, you're using the term "addictive" in a very loose way bro, just because people like me smoke cannabis on a regular basis does not necessarily mean that I'm addicted to it. I'm fine without it and so are most of the cannabis users that I know.

Did you knew that you can die from a overdose of water?
And I'm not talking about drowning, I'm talking about drinking water till you die.
Does this means that the person is addicted to water? NO.
It means there is a malfunction in the thalamus.

What does this has to do with weed?
Do you really think these "homeless people" use that "begging" money on weed? or that they got to that situation (being homeless) because of weed?
or in this context weed is not a drug?

Could be a problem of semantics (kant) by saying alcohol and drugs so just buy saying that means that alcohol is not a drug. isn't alcohol a gate way to cocaine? isn't alcoholism a very well known decease?

I don't know if you've been or seen places/situations drug related. But alcohol drinkers tend to do cocaine more often that you think. On the other hand weed smokers are not usually related to cocaine. why? because the effect of these drugs are the opposite: relaxation - speed up.

Aren't alcohol and cocaine much more expensive and addictive drugs(counting alcohol as a drug) than weed?
(don't forget that all that I've said its about the homeless/drug relation)

So what is more common to see: a) homeless person smoking a joint or b) drinking alcohol and smoking crack?
what does crack has to do here? (every thing drug/homeless relation)

Supposition of a very real scenario:
A random guy starts drinking alcohol, he try's cocaine, lets say he likes it (wakes him up from the numbness of alcohol, makes his feel much more stronger etc) in time he keeps repetition and gets addicted. These drugs by being more adictive and expensive than weed, demand much more consumption and money, so you know where this is going... The guy runs out of money, starts selling all the stuff in the house. Now the guy doesn't has the money to keep doing cocaine since is that expensive so he needs a substitute that costs less money. And guess what is the common substitute for cocaine... Crack! Eventually cant pay the rent and ta-da! = homeless.

Now to the point: A marijuana smoker (stoner) can't complete that homeless/drug process (yes there could be similarities) but can't complete it.
why? Because weed is not as addictive and because weed makes you fucking hungry! If the stoner runs out of money he wont go crazy trying to get weed, because his body needs food. It doesn't need a "drug" that makes him hungry.
A matter of survival. Also you have to know that other drugs such as cocaine, crack and others make the hunger disappear.

To make it simple a homeless person would never waste his money on weed xD

Ok so what does all this homeless/drug crap talk has to do with weed being legalized?

Well when you are talking about legalizing a drug, you have to consider every aspect related, such as political, economical and social. Homeless people are part of society.
