@BenDover
I like how it's coming out. The nose still looks a bit off to me, and I think partly its the shading. Don't yell at me if you already know this but I think we all need a refresher from time to time...
Shading breaks out into:- Highlight
- Light
- Shadow
- Core
- Reflected Light
- Cast Shadow
For cartooning, I only usually worry about 3 of these on top of my base color:- Highlight
- Core
- Cast
So this is roughly how I would draw your nose to get a more round, less flattened effect...

As an exercise, I practice drawing that sphere a LOT . . . Then you start to see spheres everywhere, like the chin, the nose, the forehead, and it helps you model them better.
That's it! Hope that helps others too!

lol, im trying very hard not to throw the "do you know who i am?" line, ale :<
I used to give people the same advice, and got hung up too much on technique.
Im in a phase where i focus on design and character.
the nose is mostly drawn like that, well, it was, but the front layer/point of the nose was irritating me, it was either too blatant or too soft, so i got rid of it and left it for another time, same thing happened with my last few textures though, should probably do something about it...
anyway, thanks for the comments, i really should pay more attention to the basics

Nice...no I don't know "who you am" ...your name is the punchline of many a cheesy joke but other than that... lol! No offense I've only been playing for a couple months and only in the forums for a few weeks.
I think character is really hard with these heads and is basically the only thing that matters. I spend so much time on the technical sides of making a head that I really Dont think about the end character AT ALL... definitely have to start doing that.

BenDover:
I see your style not really complete,
You are making lines, but some of them seem unecessary,
The nose can be showed just designing the end of it,
Your cartoon like texture, seems rushed, you need more consistent lines for a cartoon style, just like line art, try another way and another since you feel you have made it.

That would look bad ingame though. Light comes from above in TB. If you shade it like this, the nose will look awkward if you don't look at it from a specific angle.

easier said than done.

sketch does not mean cartoon, i have said several times in the past that comic/conceptual cannot be related to cartoon.
i have also said several times that i will be keeping the sketch style, and that the inconsistant lines are consistantly inconsistant, they are intentional.

BenDover:
I did not mean cartoon style,
Look at marvel comics, it has a style with lines,
You can just make it more consistent with style
Not cartoon, but every line has a reason to be there.
