Afaik... you will not be able to hook to the server connection easily. Or maybe you could, but it will be basically the same as writing a software firewall, so mouse/keyboard hooks will not do any good 
Btw did you also "hook" to the actual OpenGL toribash window, or is that your own window overlaid over Toribash? xD

This could be an interesting idea and may make what made in my art copm possable but having an in game connection to somthing like mIRC could be problematic as toribash becomes increasingly popular as a lot of people my be useing it all at once. However having seen how much smoother mIRC runs compaired to ingame communications it could be a vast improvment if it could be localised to servers or buddy lists. I am also all for the ingame avitars.
