Well Lupe Fiasco is not a bad artist considering his mainstream popularity, he actually has originality and brings something fresh with his stuff. However hes definitely not the "lyricist" type of rapper. Lupe is more about musicality than the actual lyrics.

The lyrics of a lyricist are often heavily focused on content or intricacy, multisyllabic rhymes, extreme use of metaphors (and other figures of speech), orotund punchlines, complex vocabulary, assonance and much more...
