I failed too in fire red due to choosing charmander as initial, and one day my mom made me sit down and play until I got past that gym ._.

Carry a Mawile, possibly mega. You can use it as a sweeper and to cover steel types

Borrowed it off a forum and adapted it a wee bit after chatting in the rate my team channel. Still a few things I need to work on, especially whimsicott i'm told, gotten two losses and a win from it so far
