.999...
Do you believe that 0.999... does actually equal 1? Although there a proofs that 0.999... does equal 1 I'm still not convinced because the range of 0.999... is infinite so the value of the convergent value is at best 0.999... approximately equals 1.

Any thoughts on the matter?

Here a few proofs shamelessly stolen from Wikipedia.

No, a long decimal is a long decimal, not another number.
1+1=2.11111111?

The fact of the matter is, 0.3 repeated does not equal 1/3, it's just the best representation that decimals can possibly handle, since you cannot get 1/3 of 10 with a system based on 10.
