That's pretty much what this game is...
Anyway, you all know pokemon so no need to describe it.
Pokemon showdown, you battle with your team you made yourself.
Or you "random battle" wich is the same except that you're given 6 random pokemon instead of your own team.
Making a team can take a long time to be honest, up to gen 5 pokemons and all the quadrillion items and moves and shit, you'll have a hard time making a good team if you're not familiar with it.
To keep it short.. "Pokémon Showdown is a Pokémon battle simulator. Play Pokémon battles online! Play with randomly generated teams, or build your own! Fully animated!"

Yeah, this is completely focused around the battles, the team builder is pretty in depht, you'll decide what item to carry, what stats and whatever pokemon you'd like, got a ranking system etcetera..
