System of a down is an Armenian-American rock band from Glendale, California, formed in 1994. System of a Down consists of Serj Tankian (lead vocals, keyboards and rhythm guitar), Daron Malakian (vocals and lead guitar), Shavo Odadjian (bass), John Dolmayan (drums).

Their style of music is hard to describe but has usually fallen under alternative metal, alternative rock, art rock, experimental rock, hard rock, heavy metal, nu metal, progressive metal, and progressive rock.

I love System of a Down. But I have to say, Their songs can sounds a little... Weird, Lyrical wise. But I still do like them. What I love of the band the most is Serj's amazing voice. Shavo's style with the bass. And how the drums go with the song itself. Amazing band.

Too bad they're on a break nowadays, mentioning their own projects. They promised to get back somewhere near 2011.

i like there music but god i hate chop suey and B.Y.O.B. you play some system of a down to somebody and they just say "all it is, is screaming" and then you show them B.Y.O.B and they instantly know it and like. the songs are so overrated and nobody listens to stuff from steal this album.

i listen to their lesser known stuff too. i just chose these songs because their some of their most well known. B.Y.O.B. and Chop Suey aren't close to my favorites either, but i like them

Well, IMO, their best musics are Violent Pornography and Old School Hollywood.
I have 4 albums(Hypnotize,Toxicity,Steal This Album!,Mezmerize), and the best is definitely Mezmerize.
Songs like Radio/Video and Question! are simply awesome.

Anyway, the "weird" lyrics you guys talked about are actually pretty cool metaphorical figures ; try to analyze them some time.

I love all of SOAD's songs although I like the older stuff more then their newer albums, but I love the song Kill Rock N' Roll (mainly because the song is about Daron accidentally killing a bunny when he hit it with a car)
