Ranking
using anti-virus websites are scary to me

I always call a professional
I am a terrible person :(
From my personal experience I recommend:

Antivirus: Avira Antivir Personal OR Avast Free Antivirus + ClamAV (as a secondary scanner)
Anti-malware: Malwarebytes + Spybot Search & Destroy (to immunize) + Combofix (passive, use it only when the shit gets serious)
Firewall: Comodo Firewall (with Defense+ and sandbox activated
Sandbox Isolation: Sandboxie (to run suspicious files such as keygens)
Multi-scan web engines: www.virustotal.com + www.jotti.org (for on-demand scanning on suspicious files)
Personal folders encryption: TrueCrypt
Anti-spam: SpamAssassin

Can't get much better than this!

I would definitely pick out AVG buddy. It's completely free (make sure you pick the right version) and gets the job done.

Click here for the free AVG Basic version! (Redirected from the AVG Site)(FREE)

Click here for the AVG Anti-Virus 9.0 Download! (30 Day Trial)(Full Version requires payment)

Click here for the AVG Internet Security 9.0 Download! (Contains all features)(30 Day Trial)(Full Version requires payment)

What's the difference? Click here for the comparison chart!

I think avast! is the best antivirus, it can detect some viruses that avg can't
Drinking coffee and not contributing to society are just two of my many talents.

The problem is that malwarebytes is not an antivirus software. Its a passive anti-malware software (unless you pay for active protection) but even then it doesn't cover all the aspects of an antivirus.
