Point system.
Right, had a quick look and this didn't -seem- to be suggested anywhere else, so forgive me if this is a transgression on any rules.

I was thinking that an optional point system would be pretty cool.
Rather than working on any contact with body parts = damage, perhaps a system based on modifying real pointing systems, such as that used by taekwondo would offer a nice alternative that could be used instead of the classic system if the op/modder so wishes.
I admit this is a personal point, but I really hate how people can win a game by kicking my shin and then running away (or some other variation thereof). I understand that if I was some kind of grand master this wouldn't be a problem, but unfortunately this isn't my status and I still get beat by tripods.

Pointing where:
  • A punch to the torso or head gives one point
  • A kick to the torso gives one point
  • A kick to the head gives 2 points
  • A fracture on the: Knees, hips, glutes, elbows, pecs and shoulders gives 2 points
  • A fracture to the: abs, lumbar and chest gives 3 points
  • A dismemberment to: Anywhere but the wrists and ankles gives 4 points
  • A decap grants 5 points

Where 'punch' is a hit by the hand, and kick is a hit by the front of the shin (if possible) or the foot.


In addition, the force required to score points would be an alterable value, similar to the way dismemberment and fractures are alterable. This would reduce the amount of bullshit annoying point leads that can really make losses simply frustrating.
As previously stated, it would be optional to use this pointing system, or the current system.

If the capabilities are implemented into the game, I'm sure someone can.
If you mean right now then no, it's not possible.

Also yes, I feel this would give rise to alternative mods, rather than the op simply turning this on in game rules. It could end up being a flag most of the time.

this could probably be made with a lua script

bottom thresholds for what amount of power on impact counts as a hit would be needed as well or else you could cheat the system by putting your hand near his head and spazzing your wrist

Bottom threshold is what I meant.
A maximum threshold wouldn't really make much sense under this system.
Or maybe it would, if you have ideas on that?

my idea regarding new points is pretty simple:

you have a option in editor to set damage threshold for one point, or several points

how it will work let's say for boxing

you hit head with 5k - you recive one point
if you hit head less then 5k - you recive 0

if you hit head with 20k - you recive 5 or 7 points since it will count as KO

so yeah simple as that.

This would solve the problem of hit-and-run,a random hit on the body will do no good.

most of this can be done with modding already, many mods have already been released that use alternate point systems

you can also request a mod in the mods board

only thing that's not strictly possible is making it so only hands and feet can score points
