How to create a clan
[Clan] How to create a fkin clan
Lets face it guys.
There are not a lot of good clans being made these days. Take one look at the DSC board... :o. If you're reading this, and you want to make a clan, then you need to pull up your socks. It requires only a little effort (it's 3 goddamn steps), so if you fk it up after reading this, then you might want to consider getting yourself checked out.
STEP 1: PROPER PLANNING
You need to properly plan. Piss poor planning leads to piss poor performance.
The first thing you need to do is gather at least 5 clan members. Aside from being a requirement to be able to utilize the war system, you're also going to have a very hard time generating activity through conversation with less than that many people. Also, make sure the people that you've decided to create your clan with aren't total deadshits. You don't want anyone that's going to drag down the clans rep, or be stupid.
You also need to WRITE THE BLOODY DSC BEFOREHAND. Make sure you've got a story (pls with proper grammar). If you're not the creative type, then just write a description. You have to make a list of goals/aims/objectives as well. Have a firm set of rules, and if someone breaks the rules, make sure they're punished. There's no use to having a 'no less than 10 words' rule if people break it and are never told off. Be a strong disciplinarian. It boils down to one thing, don't be a bitch.
You should probably create a bank. If you've got all the TC going to one member, then that's a lot of concentrated wealth and power. Absolute power absolutely corrupts. You've been warned.
STEP 2: RUNNING YOUR CLAN
There are two things you need to worry about. Post quality and activity. If you've got those two things, then you will be sitting pretty.. very pretty.
You can't use your clan as a place to spam. It may look cool seeing all the official clans spamming, but they can spam because they've already passed the official test - you haven't. You should be having conversations with your members, developing lifelong bonds, forming a community. You want to make your clan feel comfortable for everyone. There are plenty of topics for conversation; toribash, IRL shit, sports/movies/games/tv, relationships, clan wars, cowmeat... whatever you want to. But don't be stupid about it. Recruit funny and smart people. People you'd want to hang out with. People that can hold a conversation (and pls proper grammar).
To make your clan active you need to be super active yourself. Monkey see, monkey do. You will model good activity. If you and your co-leaders or fellow founders are always there to carry a conversation forward, or start a new one, then your clan will always be active. The clan lives and dies on your activity. Until you've set up a strong foundation and house, with a comfy armchair that you can retire into, you have to man up and just do it.
The more people that post in your DSC, the more active your DSC will be. Stop being such an introvert and make friends with people. Be friendly with other clans and post in their board. You scratch their back, they scatch yours - everybody's active! It also expands your little community into a much bigger community, and isn't that really what it's all about?
STEP 3: BECOMING OFFICIAL
The official requirement is for your clan to be 5 weeks old before applying to be official. Only apply if your clan is very active. If you're active on the forums, then great. If you're active ingame too, then that's even better. If you're IRC active on top of that, then you're golden.
Send whoever the clan admin is (red name) the following, filled out, application form:
It could take a month before the clan council reaches a decision about your clan. Be patient. Don't go pming any clan mods asking if they've made their minds up yet. Keep your clan active while it's being voted on - this is not the time to slack off. If you've followed this guide precisely, then one day you will wake up and you will find your clan has it's very own board to post in. Don't make a bunch of stickies, you only need a few (e.g. recruitment, general chat).

It's as easy as that. That is all you need to do. Bookmark this page. Print it off and sleep with it. Learn it off by heart. Your clan will succeed.

Another point to become offical. I applied for official at the time it wasn't possible anymore to manage all the clan related stuff with only one thread. If you apply just to become offical, it isn't a good reason. If you do it 'cause you NEED a board, that's a good reason.
A clan wide skype group also works really well. It keeps people interested in the game, in the clan, and in each other. We (Nitro) even used screenshots of our skype group to help become official. It's both fun, and very convenient. Even if some members don't have mics, they can always listen in.
