Hi, i've been trying to make a transparent head texture, because I have already done it a couple of years back, i was wondering if this was still possible, because I have tried earlier tonight to upload a png and GIF but the head just show up in game as black with the artwork all blurry.

any help?

No more than 50% of the head texture can be transparent.

Also, yes, it is still possible to make a transparent texture. They do still work in the game. You need to save the file in Photoshop/GIMP/etc. as a png file. You can't just change the suffix . ending. GIF isn't the best format as it the quality is greatly reduced so I recommend re-saving it as a .png file. In GIMP you'd click the "export" button in the file tab. Photoshop you can either "save" or "save as".

EDIT : tried to do this, with simply a translucent background and most of the head covered, but the head still comes out opaque.. I don't understand what im doing wrong..

Pretty sure you're not allowed to have transparent textures anymore, anyways.
