Skulfuk was right.
Another world was really an experience. I never finished it (too hard for me, I wasn't a regular player at the time).

Later (and by the same designer I think) was the game Flashback.
Sweeter graphics (better gear at the time too) and still an experience !

French game-designers ftw ;)

First Alone in the Dark (1992). I remember being really afraid while trying to go out of the house and being eaten by a giant maggot whereas winged demons were chasing me.
A nightmare ^^ (especially when the game was in english and I didn't speak it at the time).

Concerning the first ever game I played. Well it was in french, it should be something like "The gold Eagle" and it was on Thomson MO5.

Haha oldies goldies, etc...

Naah, different people. His next (and last) game was Heart Of Darkness.

He returned to the industry but still hasn't made anything new since the mid 90's

Both games were developped by the dead game company Delphine Software International, both under supervision of Paul Cuisset (Another world 1992, Flashback 1993).

I remember hearing about heart of darkness, but I haven't had the opportunity to play it.

good music, variety of monsters, and I like that you can choose your god in each level, and you will get spells according to it. But end of a game surprised me a lot :-D

Delphine were the software house, but Another World was a solo effort by Eric Chahi (he also made Future Wars for Delphine). Interplay were responsible for publishing.

That's why so many similar games started appearing, no one really pays attention to who made the game, they just associate the company with the product. IMO flashback was inferior in every way to Another World, I just couldn't get into it.

You can read up about the dude on his site: http://www.anotherworld.fr/

And yes, he's French ;)

Also, Heart Of darkness. You can tell Chahi made it because everything kills you! XD

Used to play this one a lot with my old man

And here is something of a modern day equivalent.

you arent, got a downloadlink to that game?
This will really date me, but for an avid Star Wars fan, This game was the ultimate. I spent hours and hours in the arcade(if you don't know what an arcade is ask your parents) playing this game. This was one of the first star wars video games and, vector graphics aside, it still holds a special place in my heart.

btw the game was just "Star Wars" i believe.
