[Forumz]How to be liked and respected in the Toribash Community
This is a guide for newcomers on how to be a respected, liked and contributary member of the Toribash Community. It will list the main aspects of the community, as well as certain "do's and don'ts" of the forum. If you want to become famous, and not infamous, in the Toribash world, be sure to pay attention!

Top Tips

1. ALWAYS make sure your posts are relevant and sensible

It seems obvious, but many people get this wrong. Always make sure that what your posting is relevent to the thread title, and that your not going off on some random tangent. For example, in a thread about kickboxing replays, don't post with a great new head texture you just made. Similarly, make sure what your saying is actually contibuting to the thread topic. For example, don't just post in a discussion thread whether you think he issue is "good or bad". Explain why, and put some effort into your post. That way, people will see you as a serious member.

2. What happens in wibbles stays in wibbles

This is something which many people seem to forget, and with dire consequences. Wibbles is for stupid 4chan memes and excessive trolling, and the rest of Toribash is for everything else vaguely civilised. That means that tip number one should be applied everywhere apart from that terrible place down below.

3. Make sure your posts make sense and are written in good English

Remember, just because it's the internet, doesn't mean you should write as if your were at a special-needs nursery school's English class. People will look up to you much more if your posts are easy to read and understand, and make grammatical sense. "GUYZ I NEEDSSX HEL^PS PLZ MY COMPUTWSWE IT BDROKJED AND IT DOESNH@T WORK" isn't going to get a great response compared to: "Hey guys, can someone help me with my problem please? My computer doesn't seem to be working. Anyone got any idea what's wrong?"
This doesn't mean you have to write in Shakespearean English, just read through your posts and make sure they are legible and correct.

4. Treat other members with respect, and don't hold grudges

It's simple really, treat other members how your would like to be treated yourself, and never sink to the level of flaming. The most popular and well-known members in the community are generally nice people, who will constructively critisize if neccessary, but never break down into random insults and bursts of caps lock. Even if you really don't like a member, still talk to him like you would anyone else, and people will most probably lean torwards you in any stand-off you may find yourself in. Flaming and trolling are both signs of weakness on the internet, as our retaliating to them with more of the same.

5.
NEVER over-use smileys

This is a simple rule of thumb which will make sure that people take your posts seriously, and don't just dismiss them straight away as being nooby and not worth their time. One or two smileys per post should be more than enough, and you should never use anything other than , or on special occasions . Take these two examples. Which one looks better at first glance?

Much better. The advantages of not abusing smileys are obvious.

6. Post count and join date mean nothing

Don't try and win an argument by stating that "My postcount is bigger!" or "I joined earlier". This will just make you look like an idiot, and not help your situation. Your post count is just a stupid meaningless number, and no-one cares about your join date. The only thing that matters is your attitude and ability.

7. Respect the authority of the mods

This is a pretty obvious way to keep yourself out of trouble. Arguing with the mods with most likely end up with bad consequences for you, and just make you look like and idiot to everyone else. Mods like nothing better than using people as examples, and their infract finger is generally twitchy. Just accept your fate, or you will likely just make the situation worse for yourself.

8. Be funny, but not stupid

There's nothing wrong with being funny, and in many ways, the Toribash Community is rather geared torwards humour. It will raise your popularity, and people like a member who makes them smile. But remember, there is a time and place for humour, and there's a fine line between being funny and being an idiot. A small amount of generally funny stuff is better than a shitload of 4chan memes and stupid jokes.

The ultimate toribash forum guide

This is a tutorial for newcomers to the forum, explaining the purpose and the reqired etiquette of each board. I hope that this tutorial helps you to understand the forum, and become a more contributary and active member.

News

This is where all new features for Toribash are announced, and this board warrents quite serious discussion and comments on the announcements. Although some humour is warrented at times, this is mainly a place to express your views on new developments. Don't be stupid here, and don't start new threads unless you genuinly have something important to announce.

Discussion

This board is for serious discussion about things not neccessarily related to Toribash. This is definitely not a place to mess around, and posts should be backed up with explainations and interesting information, if possible. Also, getting irrational and acting stupidly towards another member with an oppsoing view is not a good way to win a n arguement. People with diffent views to you should be talked to in a calm and intelligent way, and different beliefs should be embraced. Only serious and discussion-worthy threads should be posted here.

Rapid threads

A place to come if you've got a quick question about Toribash, or anything else, for that matter. Although this is no-where near as serious as discussion, restraint is warrented here, and being stupid will almost certainly result in an infraction. You can post threads such as polls, questions about certain aspects of the game (which don't belong in support), and anything which is on your mind and warrents intelligent conversation.

Gaming chat, Computer/mobile chat and Music chat

Each of these boards are for discussion of each of the title topics. Try not to mess around here, and obviously stick to the topic of the board. These boards are much like rapid threads, but specialising in the board's title.

Beginner sanctuary

A place where beginners can come to discuss basically anything they want and to ask questions about Toribash. If you are answering questions, remember to always be polite and friendly to the newbies. No flaming or trolling here! Also, always remember to back up your answer with evidense, and don't post if the question has been answered (unless you have another question related to it). If you're asking a question, make sure it is worded correctly and easy to read. Also, check the stickies and use the search function before asking a question, to see if it's already been asked.

Replays

This is where players share the replays that they created ingame. Rememeber, only use constructive critisism, and never flame other members. This will never gain you popularity, and instead get you -rep.

Mods

This is where members will post mods and .lua scripts that they have created for ingame use. Feel free to comment on any mods with suggested improvements and constructive critisism. Remember to obey the basic rules, though.

Events

Members will post events here, such as ingame tourneys and forum events. These will include givaways and art competitions, as well as plenty of other chances to let you prove yourself, and get a large reward in the process. Prizes in events can vary massively, with hundreds of thousands of TCs given away each week. If you are participating in an event, make sure you follow the rules set down in the first post, as well as respecting that the judges descision is always final. Also, NEVER copy another members work in creativity-based events, as this can result in bans and infractions, as well as being plain lazy and thoughtless. If you are posting an event in this board, remember that lotteries are strictly banned.

Art

This is where members will post their non-texture related art, which they don't wish to sell. This could be anything, and does not have to be related to Toribash. As with all other forums, common etiquette is required. That means no flaming or trolling etc. If you are posting a thread in this board, it must be tagged appropriatly, for example [IMG] or [GIF].

Tutorials

This is where members will post threads telling you how to do specific things in the Toribash world. If you are posting a comment on a tutorial, remember to try not to just say something like: "Great tut" or "Didn't like it". Back up your opinion with an explaination. If you want someone to make a certain tutuorial, please post your request here, instead of making a new thread.

Suggestions

Here you can suggest new features for the forums or game, and members will comment on its practicality and whether they think it could be included or not. Before posting a suggestion, remember to read the list of things to not suggest, and read through the board to see if your idea has been suggested before. When commenting on a suggestion, remember to use constructive critisism, and don't just dismiss and idea straight-off without explaination.

Support

This is where you should post if you have encountered a problem directly relating to Toribash. For example, your textures won't load or the game won't start. General questions such as "How do I change my user title?" should not go in support. Before posting a new thread on this board, read through the stickies, FAQs and use the search function to see if your question has already been asked.
Note: Spam reports should not go here, and should instead go on the "market squad" board.

Art/textures

This is where members buy and sell art textures, as well as requesting textures to be made. You can sell your texture by auctioning it, selling it for a fixed price or asking for offers. There is a very long list of rules for this board, so I will post a link instead of re-writing them all. Click here for the full art/textures board rules.

Items

In this forum, you can buy and sell items, such as flames, set and packs and texture items. Toricredits can also be sold here. As with the art/textures board, there are a lot of rules, which I will link you too. Click here for the full market rules index.

Market squad

This is the board for the market squad, which is the team of members who moderates the market boards and deals with scams and the likes. On this board you can report scams, your opinions on the market system and any questions about the market.

Organisations

This is the board in which members can start their own organisationsfor people with similar interests, and join other member's orgs. The orgs do not have to be about Toribash, and can in fact be about anything you can think of. Many groups require an application to join, so remember to put a lot of effort into this to increase your chances of getting in.

Clan Discussion

This is the board on which members can start their own clans, as well as join other people's. Clans are a group of members who wear the same tag ingame and discuss things together. bascically a good way of making more friends on Toribash. Clan can also compete in events, such as wars with other clans. As with organisations, the vast majority of clans require certain belt levels or number of posts, as well as requiring you to fill in an application form before applying. After a while, clans may apply to become official, and gain their own private board. New clans must have a [DSC] tag in front of their name.

Clan events

This is where events for clans to participate in are posted. Also, clan recruitment events may take place here.

Wibbles

Forget the rules, anything goes here. For your own sake, try not to make it too retarded.

Hall of shame

Where you go if you fail. Try not to end up here, it won't do wonders for your image.

*All I had time for at the moment, list will be updated very soon*

Quit, probably.
This better be a pretty good and in depth tutorial.
If not, it will be closed or deleted, and if I really feel for it, hall of shame.
Thread finished first consruction stage, more updates coming later.
Quit, probably.
How to be liked?

Humour plays rather a large part in that, wouldn't you agree?

:>

Yeah, that's a point. I'll include that in tut, if that's alright by you?
Quit, probably.
By all means, you were the one with the courtesy to make the thread.

Look like an idiot*

Also, a rather nice tutorial, this might convince a few of the mindless meme troll fags in wibbles to actually be a decent person.
