Sometimes it is a helpful thing to have, however, you are giving your country rights over your life just for being a citizen and being of a certain age. That is not freedom.

I can see the upside of it, you know.. There are times when the country does need you, however, like I said above, they are taking away your freedom. It's not patriotic at all. Some people join the military for their country, and patriotic people like that don't need to be force to. Being forced into it because you live in your country doesn't make you patriotic, nor your country patriotic.

USA - no, i don't think so. USA is a country that likes to butt into everyone else's business, so having more "spare" soldiers if they need them isn't good. it's too bad for countries that work that way.

I guess I'll talk more about what I stated above.
I love my country, but I don't want to be forced into the military just because I'm a citizen. Really, it doesn't make sense to be penalized just for being born in a certain country. Yes, that's what mandatory military service is, a penalty. I had to sign up for something where they can draft me if they need to just to sign up for financial aid for college. See, it's a penalty.
