You excelled at creating a nice soundscape for the song to occupy. I feel like all the instrumentation, effects, and musical ideas fit together very well.
I also feel like you partly did very well at that because you didn't introduce very many new or interesting ideas after the first minute. It has a good sound to it, but becomes hard to actively listen to because it ends up being just the same-old-same-old. The most notable moments I can think of after the first minute or so are at ~1:30 and ~3:25. The cymbal at ~1:30 was very smooth and I think making more use of that (and similar embellishments) in the sections where you stripped a lot of instrumentation away (~1:13-1:40, ~3:02-3:20) could have helped maintain interest while maintaining that muted sound. I also feel like the more upbeat section beginning near the end of the song (@ ~3:25) should have come far far sooner, because I'd mostly lost interest by that time.
I think you probably could have shortened the middle section from ~1:40-3:00 quite a lot, or removed it entirely and just made your climax a bit longer, and also made your outro longer. That would have shortened the song by ~40-60 seconds, but I don't think that would have been too big of a deal.
To keep interest you could have also put a more unique and driving melody on top of everything else going on, that could really guide the listener through the song. It wouldn't have taken very much, and I wonder if it could have helped a good bit.
I was also slightly dissapointed you didn't make more use of the rain sound and whatever the hell that sound was at ~0:10. I feel including it in the toned down sections or in the transitions from muted to the standard beat you have going could have added a very nice and cool recontextualization to those samples and in general just make better use of them than a simple one-off.
Just to kinda sum up my thoughts here, you put together a nice sounding song, but its lack of variety detracts from the song a lot. You occasionally use interesting elements (e.g. the cymbals, rain, weird ass noise) , but not often enough to compensate for hearing mostly the same materal for several minutes (that one rhythmic motif that repeats over the entire 4 minutes of the song). Even just changing up the instrumentation over a couple sections of the song to make them unique could have made listening to this much more interesting.
Good job though, you've gotten way better. I look forward to seeing what you do next!
