If it's one of those "Decap (person's name) for 10k". Then you must save the replay and send it to the person who put the bounty. If this is still around/relevant to what you need.

After you beat them the tc gets sent to you automatically.
Keep in mind you won't get anything if it's already been claimed.

^^ That was the highlander event I think. Though there are probably other events being run like that.

If the bounty has a bounty text, it will be claimed the next time that person is decapitated.
I suspect its the same system if there is no bounty text involved, but I have not tried that before.
