In my opinion it's absurd how ~600 people has power to pick a leader for 318 million people. Its obvious that Electoral College is closely related to politics so the votes are slightly biased already as liberals will find hard time voting for democrats and vice-versa. Besides that, it is obvious to assume that some votes can be easily bought.
The only good thing I see about electoral college is that the president is being elected by people who actually know about politics. They can see further than just speeches and actually predict who would do the better job.
I believe there should be some sort of bridge between popular vote and electoral vote, but I doubt that it would ever be perfect compromise where everyone could agree that it's fair.
