Does having 25GB free of 287GB slow my comp down?
130GB of it being movies, and I want to know if getting rid of my movies would make my computer smoother, thanks!

Not speaking from tons of experience, but the only thing that should slow down your computer is fragmetation. Just having a lot of porn movies on your HD shouldn't do anything, but it is always a good thing to do some cleanup now and again.
My signature was too long so I got this pretty rainbow here instead now. Isn't it nice? This is a nice rainbow.

^^^ Not an expert either, so I think this is right in saying that having little left on your HD can result in things being slower as it takes longer for your computer to search through all the files. It's always good to leave quite a bit free just in-case. I'd suggest getting a bigger HD as most nowadays come in 500GB to 750GB usually.

There is an option to reformat your PC aswell but that would mean starting from nothing. All your data is gone. Google for more info and instructions.

Not really. For things such as games they're given the exact directory. They're literally guided to where everything is.

Usually having a lot of separate files slows down boot up but that's it.

No, it won't make it slower.
But like RedPanda mentioned, maybe the start up.
The past makes you wanna die out of regret, and future makes you depressed out of anxiety. So by elimination, the present is likely the happiest time.
Searching for one file among thousands will def. slow you down. Considering they're movies and they're big files it doesn't make a different really because it just means they're bigger it won't take as long to find anything; less to sort through.
None the less, if you aren't going to watch those movies might as well delete them, it would probably make your computer run faster, however much less just because again; less data.

My old laptop had 3GB of free space left in total (both drives) and it was slow as dicks even though most of it was movies/tv shows. Still helps to get rid of it.

Computer and mobile chat is a better place for this and that sub-forum needs some love anyways so I'm moving this there.

Be more careful where you post next time.

Alrights, then I guess I should get a storage device to save the movies cause they're all precious.

Thanks to everyone who posted!
