hmm, i was thinking, balance would be slightly easier with spherical wheels, you wouldn't pop at the beginning...

It wouldn't work with spherical wheels, you have to be able to see the joint, and the wheel itself, because the joint is slippery for some reason, and you need the joint to spin the wheel. If the wheel is spherical, one covers the other.
