Mind you, that does actually tend to include some of the more useful features of TP/VIP. For example, super moderators: They don't get either the background or the ability to change their user title whenever, but they do get the TP/VIP boards. They get animated avatars but no sigpics, but in some ways they get fairly long signatures. And obviously, they get search.
So, in the long run, there's still a point for smods to buy TP/VIP, if they want those aesthetic features.
