help vel build a pc
first off, i know the title is corny and copied someone else but idk

second, i need a pc for editing, (obviously recording) and music production.

My budget is kinda tight rn (less than $800), but my maximum is $1500

I'd be editing and playing Call of Duty and GTA V, and if it matters what programs I use for editing and music production I use after effects and fl studios.

I don't know much about computers FYI

Here's a build I was thinking of :

PSU: You could go for a EVGA 500B which is cheaper and more widely used.
CPU - MOBO: You sure you want to go AMD? Since Intel's i3's i5's and i7's could help with editing depending on how heavy the editing you'll be doing is. Don't always judge a CPU purely on it's cores or price.
CPU Cooler: A good and trusted cooler but if you wanted to save some money you could ever go for a smaller cooler like a Hyper T2 or TX3.
RAM: Seems fine. If you ever need more for editing you can just buy another 8GB stick for dual channel. Or you could get 2 4GB sticks now and another 2 4GB sticks later on for quad channel depending on if the motherboard you go with has enough slots.
HDD: Seems good and is very well trusted. If you wanted to save a few bucks you could go for a Seagate Barracuda but unless the 5$ or so difference has much of an effect it's not really needed that much.
GPU: Seems fine. You could upgrade or downgrade it depending on how much you want to put into it. You could go up to a GTX 970 for an extra 100$ or go down to a 950 and save 50$. Eitherway depends on you really.
Case: Looks fine.
Optical Drive: Seems fine.
Keyboard Bundle: Looks good.

Any questions?

PSU: I'll swap the one i have right now for the EVGA 500B but of course I'll do a little research on it first

CPU - MOBO: Yeah I've been seeing that a lot lately, and someone told me the AMD's have an overheating problem as well so I'll swap out but what intel would you recommend?

GPU: Good enough as in? I'll read up on the GTX 970

I'm curious on Mongious' opinion, he seems to be the go to guy in these situations

also this is my second build idea http://pcpartpicker.com/p/jtRB23
but it's a scrapped idea bc as you can see it's just about my maximum and it's missing peripherals

Dope build but.. You sure you wanna go with 650W PSU? You could possibly save $20 for 500W PSU tho.

PSU: Ok good.

CPU - MOBO: Yeah AMD's do tend to get hotter than Intel's CPUs but if anyone really wanted to go AMD all they would need is an adequate cooler. As far as what Intel I'd recommend that depends on multiple factors, how demanding the games you'll be playing are, how heavy the editing you'll be is, if you plan on doing any other heavy CPU taxing tasks.

GPU: The GTX 970 will probably play most games you want at good settings for quite a while. Even while recording.

Yes Mongius does post here a lot.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/jtRB23 It's very likely that you don't need an i7 for what you'll be using your build for but I can't say for sure until I know exactly to what extent you'll be taxing the CPU with what tasks you'll be doing. I'm also pretty sure you don't need a 100$ cooler. Just because it's the best, doesn't mean you need it. Otherwise go buy a Ferrari because it's the best. And I still can't tell if you need as much as 16GB of RAM. Probably not but again I have to know how heavy your tasks will be to a specific extent. That 970 I like the cooling on but as far as personal preference goes I prefer EVGA. Nothing wrong with MSI GPUs though. And I love their motherboards. Fractal Case well known and the price isn't too much. It's fine I guess just check to make sure it will serve for everything you need. The PSU yeah that's nice but a 500B will do perfecty fine with your build and will last you. HDD you don't need to spend $73.89 on especially for just 1TB of Storage. Anything from 40-50$ will do. Seagate Barracuda, WD Caviar Blue or even Toshiba. Performance of that motherboard will probably be good and it'll probably last you and the chipset allows for overclocking. Could've shaved off 20$ off the price but nothing too major as far as price goes. Any further questions?

This build is probably the one you should get. Best graphics card in the market. However the cpu is not one of the best when it comes to gaming but it will do the job. Xeon series cpus aren't really meant for gaming, mostly for server use but it's allright.

We should at least see if he needs something this powerful first. What if he wants to record Minecraft with Fraps and edit with Windows Movie Maker. Then that'd mean you and Mong just told him to buy an overkill build. VelaIr please inform us to what extent your tasks will reach as far as heavy loads go.

Mainly you are right, but that doesn't apply to all Xeons.

As I oftenly like to say, the e3 1231v3 is an i7 4770k without overclocking and iGPU. It is a good sacrification for 100$. iGPUs are unused in 95% of gamer builds (only for a second monitor that is used only for browsing) and overclocking isn't necessary. Most people don't overclock and are fine, having 150 or 160 fps really doesn't matter. It is mostly for enlarging your e-dick.

http://ark.intel.com/products/75123/...up-to-3_90-GHz

compare these two, there is really no difference in anything else but the things I mentioned above. "Conflict free" is Intels way of saying "you can overclock this bitch".

like i said I'll be editing cod (mostly mw2,cod4 and bo2) and gta while also being able to play (added just in case it wasn't obvious) , i'd also like to use shaders (such as reshade)

thanks for all the help btw
