Another major thing in GIMP is the Brush tool. It is located across from the pen tool, as you can see in the picture.
GIMP comes pre loaded with some very basic brushes. To use it, just drag your mouse where you want the brush to appear.
However, you can download more brushes from various websites. I prefer deviantart.com, where all you do is search for a brush type you want, click it, and then save under your Gimp folder>share>Gimp>2.0>Brushes. If it is an .abr document, then just save it under the above folders. If it is an .rar file, extract it first, and then save it. There is no limits to the brushes you can have, as you can see in the below picture. To the left, you can change the color of any brush as well as choose the brush. To the right, you can choose the brush more freely, and you can also see some of the brushes I have, as well as in the picture I made sampling some of my brushes.
