The minimalism was ambitious, but something about the mapping or proportions seemed off to me and ruined the whole effect.
Had he gone a bit wider, or lower, used a more severe curve or even messed with the colours a bit, it may have been another story.
The lower part of the head looks... bulky
But Im not sure if that was intentional or what his intent was.
Or even if his playing around with the heights is really clever, or just a failed experiment.
Which is the biggest thing it has going for it, the shape is open to interpretation, but i do think it is TOO open to interpretation.
It lacks some defining feature that points the viewer in a direction.
It asks questions, but has no answers.
The only thing I do know, is that something about the design/concept is flawed, and the minimalist approach doesnt improve it, but rather, makes them more noticeable.
The question is, is that the point?
Im half inclined to say that, that WAS the point, because that would be hella cool and super high tier art.
The other half of me is inclined to put it down to laziness/failed experiment and me reading too much into it.
