Well, Keep in mind that graphics cards do only half the job. The other half goes to your cpu. Could you post your computer specs?

Windows XP Professional
Intel Celeron 430, 1800 MHz (9 x 200)
40gb HD (i'm getting a 500gb soon)
1GB ram
did i missed anything :P?
he already posted it above.

Hmm. So what kind of computer do you have? I'm going to guess desktop.

What's your price range, and what level of graphics do you plan on playing most games on?

I might be able to dig up some nice and not too expensive cards for you.

Well, prototype had major bugs from the day it was released for pc.

I also noticed the laggy start menu, you just have to let it warm up a bit.
He shouldn't have had problems.

Nero, I say before you even buy a graphics card check your motherboard for the right slots to house the card.

I bought a 9800GT for $200 AUD thinking my motherboard could house it, but it turned out we need a PCIe slot, not a normal PCI slot.

Sounds to me that your PC is pretty old and your motherboard would most likely only have PCI slots.

You'd probably be better off buying a new PC.

EDIT: Not to mention cooling.
