here's the basic way of uploading an image, go to shop, go to wherever the texture is, in activated or deactivated, hit edit on it, go to choose file pick the picture you want on it then hit the upload button, there's a thing about textures though, not all images work, that's why you're supposed to make, buy or trade art, you can put anything you want on them so it's up to you, well anything but porn or offensive stuff/stolen stuff.

or if you want you can put colors on them just go on paint color the box save it then do what i said above.

The problem you are having is that with dual joints (joints with both a left and a right) you need to specify which side you are applying the texture to
And so the file name should be j_l_shoulder.tga
Here are all the required names for all 20 joints:
j_neck
j_chest
j_lumbar
j_abs
j_l_pecs
j_r_pecs
j_l_shoulder
j_r_shoulder
j_l_elbow
j_r_elbow
j_l_wrist
j_r_wrist
j_l_glute
j_r_glute
j_l_hip
j_r_hip
j_l_knee
j_r_knee
j_l_ankle
j_r_ankle
(Don't forget to convert to tga)
