Once you get to a certain point, other stats won't lvl your combat if one of them is high enough. I used to neglect range and mage until I got to about 100 combat, just from melee. Now Range nor mage will lvl my combat. I don't think that would apply with just one stat being high.

Im pretty sure def is in its own category with str and att. Unlike how mage and range are in their own seperate categories.
