So I'm a part of a dance group with mixed styles (modern, breaking, hiphop anything you wish really) it was created for a special show in our city.
That's where I spend 12 hours every weekend now. (6h+/day)
Today we couldn't continue because two of our members were injured so our "leader" decided that we will do some theatre exercises.
At first it was just dumb fun, pretending to be things, answering awkward questions etc.
Then we laid down and laughed for few minutes straight. XD
After that in pairs we had to improvise a stage where we argue. We literally had to yell at eachother in front of the rest of the group untill the judge said stop. Shit, I got so into it that the guy I was doing it with thought I was gonna punch him XD.
But later shit got real.
We had to focus and recall one very sad moment in our life in details (preferably one that is connected to the reason why are we dancers), then one by one in front of the others we had to tell that story thru dance. Infact we had to use the emotion driven movement rather than "steps" that we learn in a dance school.
I swear everyone after finishing just went into the corner and started crying, heck I cried like a little bitch and I'm not ashamed of that one bit. For the first time I understood how big part of my life dance really is and how helpful it was during the moments I was the weakest and what does it really mean to express myself. Being one lonely outsider I'm not someone that talks about deep emotions or my problems in life often so I guess the only way to do that is thru dance. Ima pussy I know
