Favorite Author?
Tell me who your favorite, poem, short story, novel, any kind of author. That you enjoy the most. Tell me where you found out about them and why you enjoy their works. I am not much of a reader myself, but I love knowledge.

I personally enjoy the Irish poet, Oscar Wilde. I particularly like his sense of humor, look up some quotes by him. A very witty guy, though at the time he was in, he spent lots if time in prison for being a gay. Still wrote some interesting works, like Dubliners.
Robert Greene is probably my favorite contemporary writer right now. His work reeks of well thought-out analyses of influential historical events, without glossing over the smaller happenings that may still be relevant. I found out about his work through an older gentleman with whom I had probably the deepest conversation ever with. I'm not as heavy a reader as I was growing up but I've been trekking through The 48 Laws of Power.

I never read any of his works that I can think of, probably know him, I will look up some of his works. I like thought out analysis to read.
Yeah his work touches mostly on how to use psychology and such to your advantage etc.

Fantasy Writers: Garth Nix. David Eddings. Brent Weeks. Raymond E. Feist. Edward W. Robertson. Brian Staveley.

Thats all for now. If you enjoy fantasy you might enjoy these ones.
Stephen King: His work is just great imo. Everything I've read by him sent me for a whirl. Horror stories are amazing.
Chickster: I literally don't know why I did it.
I haven't been reading much lately nor could I ever pick my 'favorite author' however,

The Death Gate Cycle by Margret Weiss was a good read a few years ago.'

(Underlying sinister references to some truths of the world are hidden in this colorful fantasy)

Also, if you like Fantasy/High fantasy(ehue high) then the Malazan series by Steven Erikson and the shorter stories by Ian C. Esslemont are also great out of the more recent series I've read. Too many books to list off my head I think there's around 25

(Just, epic or I should say epoch. Great character depth and world scope.

If you're into historical, if ever so slightly retouched (classed as historical fiction). The Khan Omnibus - Birth of an empire , by Conn Iggulden is a fucking amazing few million words to take in. The separate books are, Wolves of the Plain, Bones of the Hills, Empire of Silver and, Conqueror .

Wo I forgot about Stephen king. His books and movies sway me.

I would say Stephen King has some pretty good horror stories out there so I would have to agree with you Link, also, I just don't read enough, so I only really know about his works. XD
You can fast track some King into yourself with his movies.

Fun fact he plays minor roles in them. Try spot him.
