This'd be my little brothers' small project.

I figure I can ask this here, since it's related to making music.

I've been interested in making music, but not sure where to start.
Any good free programs that would be good for a beginner to start with?
And by free I mean free, not pirated.

Also I'm making a weird math rock song in Guitar Hero for the heck of it. :v

I used all the stock sounds haha, but it's not that bad.
