The Amazing Spider-Man is an upcoming 2012 superhero film currently in production. It is the fourth Columbia Pictures film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man and the first film in a rebooted Spider-Man film franchise. Originally, Spider-Man 4 was planned for release in 2011; however, in 2010 the film was cancelled due to Sam Raimi's withdrawal from the project. Sony announced that the franchise will in turn be rebooted with new director Marc Webb and a new cast which includes Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, and Rhys Ifans as the Lizard. The reboot's intention is to have Peter Parker back to developing his abilities in high school. It is scheduled to be released in 3-D on July 3, 2012.

Simultaneous with the cancellation of Spider-Man 4, Sony announced that the franchise would be rebooted with a new director and new cast. The Amazing Spider-Man is scheduled to be released on July 3, 2012 in 3-D and is intended to focus on Peter Parker developing his abilities in high school. Sony also confirmed that James Vanderbilt would write the script for the new film and Marc Webb would direct it. Entertainment Weekly called Vanderbilt's script "gritty, contemporary" and referenced Batman Begins, Christopher Nolan's reboot of the Batman film series, which also reinvented the tone of the series. There is speculation that the reboot will be based on the Ultimate Spider-Man comics. Evidence includes the fact that Brian Michael Bendis, creator of the Ultimate Spider-Man series, met with the movie crew. Bendis tweeted, "Just spent a very interesting morning at Sony with the entire spidey movie team!! Very very cool stuff!!" Alvin Sargent was hired to re-write the script.

What happened to Toby Margiure? He was a better for this. I guess things change. But they should have fucking made a spider man with carnage in it. I probably most likely WON'T be watching this. I am disappointed.

I'm glad they're changing their shit up. Spiderman 3 did a really bad job of having Venom be awesome.

I hope it's good. If they eventually do a really dark mindfucky Spiderman movie with Venom and Carnage, I'll be so happy.

Cool, I think that douchy looking guy from Social Network and The Imaginarium of Dr.Parnassus could be pretty good as spider-man. I kind of didn't like Toby, sure he had his moments, but I don't know, I just didn't like him as much. Also this guy is a better actor than Toby.

Also ATD you should probably watch about twice as much movies than you already do, you would know that the guy isn't a nobody.
