whats the idea? random shapes till something pops out?

i like my cs6 :| i don't really use any of the menus though. all hotkeys
i dunno, i just started drawing untill a face type thing appeared.
random shapes worked for the front, but now the random shapes are the idea and im stumped for the back
toying with the idea of doing a tube type thing into the back with a bit of exposed flesh or brain or something, have a piece of protective bone armour like the front thats broken off and is exposing the brain.
or something.

not using any references, so im a bit short on ideas, just dont want it to get repetative.

I would just flesh out the "normal" humanoid shapes/lighting and see what comes from there. and then decide what that thing over the mouth actually is.
thinking its a protective covering for sensitive exposed bit and pieces.
back of the brain is exposed and covered by armour because it cannot effectively cool itself down.
the vents arching over the side of the head to cool the interior.
the front one can be his respiratory system or something.

something like this
shape doesnt feel quite as organic as the rest though

try higher contrast and more highlights on the teal color to see if you can get it wetter and more alien like :|
