The Toribash forum guide:
An all round look into general forum etiquette and guidance on how to navigate safely

This is the general forum guide, if you are a newcomer you are highly recommended to read through this to get a good understanding of what's what on these forums.

Forum language
There are a few terms that you may not be familiar to if you are new to forums, here is a brief list of some of these words:
Board- A board is a section of a forum dedicated to a specific area of discussion
Sub board- Is a board within a board
Thread- A thread is a topic made by a member on a forum where people can discuss a certain topic. You can make a thread by clicking the new thread button in any section of the forum.
Post- A post is a single comment within a thread, you can make a post by clicking the post reply located above and/or below the list of posts in a thread.
Locked thread- A locked thread is a thread which has been closed by a moderator, which means it cannot be posted in.
Sticky- A stickied thread is a thread which will stay at the top of the board above all other thread, because it is more important or more relevant.
Shamed thread- A shamed thread is a thread which is of little relevance, which could be considered as spam by a moderator. Any threads which are shamed are moved to a section of the forum called the hall of shame
Toricredits- A fake currency that the Toribash community revolves around.
Clans- A group of players who form a "team" by wearing tags before their names and doing bonding activities together (not bondage). This is explained better in the clan section of the guide.

For more explanations of Toribash related words and phrases, please see this thread and this thread

Forum rules
We have lots of rules to keep order and prevent ridiculous behaviour. If you are found to break any rules on the forums you may be banned or infracted, so its best that you play by the rules, and then everyone can be happy. There are lots of threads with rules stated on them, so to make it easier to know what all the rules are, I have links to all of the forums rules here:

Forum people

On the forums and in the game of Toribash, there are various people with certain levels of authority. People with authority have there names in different colours than ordinary users:

Game Creator - hampa, of course. He codes for the game, puts out betas and is currently working on Toribash Wii.

Ninjas: Have the most powers, they have the powers of all of the groups listed below and they can do almost anything on the forums.

Administrators - Admins are lower-tier overseers. Basically the board of people that watch over the smods and make sure their job is being done, as well as dealing with more complicated scams.

Super moderators: Have the power to ban or infract users, they can lock/delete/edit threads and posts. Their job is to provide help and keep formal order on the forums, and they also have server authority like ToriAgents do.

GameMasters: Have in game authority over servers. They are generally expected to stop trouble happening and to reprimand any trouble makers if they are found. They also help any questions asked in-game from beginners along with organizing and hosting tournaments and events in-game.

Clan admin: Have the ability to control the clan section of the forums, they can do such things as add new clans or delete clans.

Local Moderators - There are moderators for each board, shown at the bottom of the main page of each board. These moderators enforce rules and report to smods for help with infractions and the likes. They watch over one board (or multiple, if assigned) and keep people in line.

To see the list of members who come into these categories see this bit of the forum

Forum sections
The Toribash forums are split into numerous sections, each section has its own specific purpose, and in this section you can post in threads, create brand new threads, and upload files on posts. Some sections of the forums have sub-sections. All the sections and sub-sections are listed below, there are lots of helpful links.

General
The general section of the forum contains six main boards:

News
This section contains any news about developments in Toribash, such as new releases. It also contains details about other things such as promotional offers, and every so often, there can be news of a Toribash meet-up wherever in the world.

Discussion
The discussion board is an area for intelligent productive discussion, a wide range of topic can be discussed, some related to Toribash, some not. The threads in this section often have lots of text per post, so you might need to do a lot of reading of a thread before you fully understand it.

Rapid Threads
Rapid Threads is a place where you can ask you any curious question and any other idle chit-chat with the rest of the community. It is not strict and serious discussion but more mature and sensible than wibbles.

Gaming Chat
A place where you can discuss all the other games rather than Toribash.

Computer Chat
A place where you can discuss all PC related topics and questions. You can also ask the community with your problems with your computer.

Music Chat
A place where you can discuss all music related topics and ask advice to which latest music you should listen too.

The Ultimate Toribash Forum Guide- Part 2
....

Toribash
The Toribash section of the forum is the section of the forum dedicated specifically to the game of Toribash, it has 7 Main sections:

Beginner's Sanctuary
This section focuses on helping beginners and newcomers know more about Toribash, the forums, the community, the forum leaders and many more. You may ask any kind of question that you want to know just by simply making a thread. Also, it has 2 sub-forum sections that further help beginners.
Introduce yourself
Introduce yourself is simply a sub-forum dedicated to introducing yourself to the whole community just by making a thread in the sub-forum. Please note that you must be new to post a thread. Alternate accounts do not define you as a newcomer or a beginner.
Unibash
Unibash is primarily the official Toribash fighting school. It will teach from beginners to oldschoolers all the things they need to know from art to the market board. There are 4 seperate sub-forums intended to help everyone especially people who don't speak english.

Replays
In this part of the forums, you can post your replays, be uploading them onto posts (see how to do so here). You can also comment on people replays, or let other people comment on yours. You may also stumble across important factoids such as the order of belts in Toribash. There are also two sub-boards within the game section of the forums:
Book Of records
This is a section where people can post replays to show off their skill and set new Toribash records. Examples of records in the book of records include fastest decap, and fastest total dismember. There are certain conditions you will have to follow on setting records, to see more about this section read here.
Multiplayer Replays
This is where you post all of your multiplayer replays. Please note that this sub-forum contains ONLY MULTIPLAYER REPLAYS. If you want to post and receive comments for your single player replays, please go here.

Mods
The mods section of the forum is where people can post any mods they have made for Toribash. A mod is a file in the Toribash game which you can activate to change the way tori/uke/their environment look or work. MrPoptart is the main man when it comes to mods, he has made over one hundred, and is still banging them out. As well as posting mods you have made in this section, you can also comment on other peoples mods, or request a mod to be made in this thread. There are also some sub-boards within the mods section of the forums:
Lua scripts
Lua scripts are files which change the way Toribash works. In this section, people can post scripts they have made, comment on others scripts, learn how to make Lua scripts and they can also suggest Lua scripts which can be made.
Mod team
This is a section of the forums dedicated to the people who are members of the mod team. In this section, you can see how to become a member of the mod team, and view work of the mod team.
Third party
This section is where people with advanced computing skills make add-ons to Toribash which can do certain things. It’s quite hard to get your head round if you don't understand computers too well, but if you do, you can have a look for yourself at the section to see what’s going on there.

Events
In this section, people make thread listing details of competitions, they can be Toribash multiplayer competitions, Toribash replays competitions, or competitions, and even things further removed from Toribash. Competitions have prizes, so if you want to win things for free, you best check the events board every once in a while. It has 2 sub-forums for more specific events and competitions.
Design Events
Design Events primarily focus and strictly follow design competitions only. You can go for art, video and translation competitions.
Bounty Hunting
Mostly a dead sub-forum due to the automatic bounty system which can be found here. Bounty Hunting is obviously the act for making a bounty to anyone you want to get back on. Prizes vary with the bounty makers and their budgets.

Art
On the art board, you can post your own pieces of Toribash artwork, or comment on other peoples work. Some of the art you can find there is hand drawn, and some is made on computers with programs such as adobe Photoshop.

Suggestions
This suggestions board is where you can post ideas about how Toribash could be improved, or even how the forums could be improved. Some of the more useful suggestions have made it into the game, however, there tend to be lots of suggestions which are pointless. Please don’t post pointless suggestions, or else you will get your bottom smacked again (twice as hard as before if you already had it smacked). The suggestion board has been split into 3 sub-forums to help clean and manage the amount of suggestions made.
Site Suggestions
This focuses mostly on suggestions that help the forum and other non-ingame suggestions.
Game Suggestions
This focuses strictly on suggestions made by the average user for ingame suggestions. This does not include forum suggestions.
Torishop discussion
The torishop discussion is the board where you discuss all torishop and marketplace issues. This does not include any other non-market related discussions and should not be confused with the Discussion board.

Tutorials
The tutorials section of the forums is the place where you can look to see how to do things such as change the appearance of your character, or How to use art programs with confidence. You can also request tutorials here. There is also an index which you can look at to see if there are any tutorials worth reading. If you want to impart your wisdom upon other people, you can always make your own tutorials in the section.

Support
The support board is where you can post any technical issues, or report any bugs. If you are having problems, you can ask for help from people here. Before you post anything in the support board, make sure it isn’t answered in the FAQ's:
FAQ's board
This is a sub section within the support board, it contains answers to problems which arise frequently with users. So make sure you have a look at this before making a post in support, because it could have answers to your questions. There is also a forum FAQ section, this is located on the top bar below the forum banner, or if you are lazy, click here to go to it.
Beta Releases
This forum is where hampa and the other Nabi developers post their recent updates with Toribash betas. The most recent one is Toribash 3.9 which can be found here

Market
The market place is the section of the forum where people make various contracts and transactions with each other. People can buy items with toricredits, or offer art and textures they have made to be auctioned for credits. To understand this better, you might need to understand the concept of the torishop and toricredits, which is explained later. When you first click to go into the market section, you will see that all of the market threads are actually posted in the market sub boards, apart from the market rules which are posted in the first section of the market place which is where you are directed to when you click to go to the market section. Seeing as though most of the action in the market goes on in the sub boards, I will explain the function of all three sub-boards:
Art/Textures
In this section you can sell your creations for credits. This can include textures for use in game, or avatars or picture sigs you have made. The general norm in this section is for you to either auction your creations, or give a specific price for people to buy them for. The other purpose of this section is of course to give you the chance to bid on or directly buy other peoples art or textures. Within this Sub-Board is the requests section. IN the requests section you can ask for people to make certain things for you such as avatars and textures.
Items
In the Items section, you advertise to trade buy or sell items in exchange for credits or other items. If you are buying something from someone from the market, the normal method is for the two parties involved in the transaction to send things between themselves, so you must need trust.
Market Squad
The market squad sub-forum is used by obviously the market squad members which is lead by Hanz0. They deal with market related scams, complaints and the discussion of any new policy made by Nabi, Hanz0 or any other administrator.
Clans
This is the forum section dedicated to all things clan related, from organising wars, to applying to become an official clan. This also holds the organization sub-forum.

Organizations
An organization is a group of people who are dedicated to a specific purpose or cause, an organization is not a clan, and anybody can join an organization. Each organization has its own thread for members to discuss anything they wish.

The Ultimate Toribash Forum Guide- Part 3
....

Clan discussion
This section is self explanatory in general. It is sometimes used to discuss clan related issues, it also has information on clan rules, and informs you on how to go about creating a clan (see here). The main purpose of this section these days is for people to post their clan applications to try and make their clan official, and within these applications people can discuss things about the clans.

Clan boards
Each official Toribash clan has its own board on the forum, when posting in each clans section, make sure you read any rules that the clan has on their board, because each clan can make its own rules for its clan board. Some clans are strictly invitation only, whereas other let you apply to become a member. The possibility of things you can post in the clan forums is very widespread, but the main purpose of clan board is for clan members and allies to interact with each other. To see how to make your own clan, see this thread here.

Clan events
The clan events section is similar to the events section but it is limited to things clan/group related. The clan events section itself is quite bare in content,

Other sections/elerk
These sections are quite miscellaneous, therefore they are not categorized.

Wibbles
The wibbles section of the forum is a general place to chat and joke about anything, no matter how silly. Most of the threads in wibbles are of no importance, and are just there for fun. If you are a hater of spam and hate getting flamed by totally random users, I suggest avoiding this section, because most of the posts in it are just waffle.

Hall of shame
As already mentioned, this is the area of the forums where moderators move threads that are basically unwanted, offensive or anything else which means they are not worthy of taking up place on the forums. You will go far if you don’t have a thread put in here.

Separate forum areas
These are all areas of the forums that need explaining that are not under any sections, but are located on the top bar of the forums.

Torishop

The whole Torishop is based around a virtual ingame currency we have on Toribash called ToriCredits. In the Torishop, credits are used to customise your player to make them look as sexual as possible. Items vary in price, and some items require different amounts of Qi.

How to get credits
- Win one multiplayer game on any of our servers and you get 10 ToriCredits.
- To see how many credits you have, enter the Torishop, and look under the Your Account title.
- To see your credits transfer history, look at the 'Account History'.
- To see how many ToriCredits you gained from the matches you won, look at the In game Earnings

- Another way to get credits is to deposit Credits with Mobile phone, PayPal, Credit card or Scratch Cards, this gives you a lump sum of credits for a certain price.

- To get more than 10 ToriCredits per win you can buy Toriboosters, you can buy many different types of boosters. They vary in the time they last (1 week- 3 months) and the amount of credits they give you per win (50-1000)

- Credits do not disappear from the game server, so if an update fails for some reason (service overload or whatever) they will be updated later on.

If you don't get any credits, email us: [email protected]

Click HERE to e-mail Toribash via your default e-mailing program.

How to get items
Items come in a wide variety of types and colours, which I shall explain shortly, but first, it is necessary to understand how to acquire items. There are two way to get items, one is to buy them from Torishop, and another is to be sent them by transfer.
Buying from Torishop
When you go into Torishop you will see on the left that there are a number of options you can select (which will be explained later), to buy an items, you must click to view items by colour or to view all, either way, you will get a list of items to search through. When you have found the item you wish to buy, you must click the 'buy now!' button next to the item. Please remember that you will only be able to buy an item if :
-You have enough credits
-You have enough Qi
-The item is in stock.
Each item has its own picture on the left, and on the right you can see how much it costs, how much stock there is of that item, and how much Qi is required to be able to buy the item. Once you have successfully clicked the Buy now button, you will be lead onto another page, where you need to confirm that you want to buy the item. Once you have successfully bought an item, you will be told so, and the item will be located in your inventory.

If you want a cheaper way to earn your desired items, Toribash has a recent feature called youshops which can be found here. Some items are 90% cheaper then the torishop price so it is a great way to save on toricredits for other purposes. To search for the cheapest item you desire, try using deal finder in the torimarket which can be found here If you want to sell your unwanted items you can make one yourself by clicking this link. If you want to edit your youshop to your liking or just want to add a few items there is a button in the main torimarket which says " My Shop ". Click it.

All the items in Torishop are categorised. Some items also vary with what colour they are within those categories, to see the full range of colours in Toribash please view the Toribash Colour Pallet.

Misc Textures- Holds the Floor texture, Dq Texture, Flame particle and the icon texture which is currently sold out.
BumpMap Textures- gives your textures more ingame depth and texture. For more details click here
Trail Textures- textures that show a certain design when you move your arms and legs.
GUI Textures- help you design your Main Menu of Toribash.

For a full list of items and prices, please view this useful little thread

Qi
Qi is another name for the amount of games you have played, so it can be thought of as your belt. The amount of Qi you have can affect if you can buy certain items or not. Pure items require you to be a tenth Dan black belt, so you need 10,000 Qi to be able to buy them. It is Possible to buy a Qi booster so you gain it faster, click the link to boosters to see it. It is also possible to buy Qi from the people that make Toribash. You can buy qi officially from Nabi and which can be found here

Things you can do in Torishop
When you are in Torishop there are a number of things you can do. As already mentioned, you can view items to buy with credits. You can also click to buy Credits with credit card, phone or PayPal. And it is also possible to buy boosters from Torishop with money.

You can also organize your own stuff in Torishop:
Textures- Go to the texture section to upload textures onto you character for texture areas you have purchased.
Inventory- Go into you inventory to see items you have bought and to organize them. Each item can be activated and deactivated, so if you wish to use an item for a purpose, activate it. I would like to point out that you can't have two similar items activated at once.
Transfer- As already explained, you can use this section to send credits or items to other people on the forums.
Other things you can do in your section of Torishop include checking your account history, and viewing in game earnings (both already mentioned)
The Consume voucher section is used when you have purchased credits, because you will be given a code which you need to put into this section to receive your credits (only with certain methods of credit appropriation).

Transfer
Another way you can receive items is by transfer, this allows you to receive items sent by other forum members. The likelihood is that this function will be used between two members when they agree a price for an item or a trade. The transfer tool can be used to transfer any most inactivated items in your inventory and to send credits to other members.

For an alternate torishop tutorial, you can look at this thread.

Credits to Carl

ToriExchange
The ToriExchange is a tool you can use on the forums to sell and buy items for what price you want. Its aim is for you to make profit on buying items for low prices and selling them for high prices. An explanation of the ToriExchange can be found here, and a tutorial on how to use it can be found here. This is now not used with the better system of youshops and the items sub-forum.

ToriTube

ToriTube is a forum tool that lets you view and upload images and videos. It has a rating system, and images and videos can be commented on too. This web page tells you all you need to know about ToriTube. This is currently unavailable.

Forum search
The forum search is a tool that searched through the forum archives for threads or posts you wish to find for whatever reason. You might want to use the search button to check that a suggestion you are posting hasn't already been posted, or to search for a tutorial you wish to use. It is possible to search by many criteria, such as to search by thread title, or by thread starter. Currently under temporary repair.

Mods (Torimods)
This nifty little tool allows you to upload mods onto the forums for direct approval. All you have to do is click on the mods bit at the top of the forum and then upload the mod you have made which you wish to be put onto the game. If it gets approved by a moderator it will be put onto the game the next tim ethe game is updated. To add a mod you need to click the 'Add mod' button, to look at the mods waiting for approval click the 'Approve mods' button, and of course, to view the recent mod updates click the 'list mods' button

User control panel
This is where you change the controls and settings in your account. Here is a list of things you can do to your account in the userCP:
Changes your textures
Change your signature
Change your e-mail or password
Edit your profile
Edit your preferences
Change your avatar

You can also check and organise your private messages using userCP. Private messages are a way of communicating with members of the forum over the forum, they are like emails in the way that have a subject, a body and a recipient. The only difference is that you can't attach files to private messages, to see how to do so, you would need to use an external uploading site like www.box.net

Other things you can do in the userCP include viewing and organising attachments you have uploaded to the forums, and checking any paid subscriptions you have.
