us there a way to make hands grip more, adding friction maybe?

Mainly to prevent players from lying down, as that would make them nearly impossible to throw out. Would result in a lot of lame "crawling" matches. Also, in real sumo, no part except the feet can touch the ground, but I figured it's more fun when hands are also exempt.

Yeah, getting low while moving forward is probably the safest strategy.

So apparently that's not an option (without some convoluted work-arounds), but I think I know how to do it fairly elegantly. Will give it a try.
Made a new version, sumore_z. What's different about it is that only feet don't dq inside the dojo, so you must stay on your feet at all times, just like in real sumo. It also has lower turn frames for more technical gameplay.
