The main reason for some 3D events are to let the community contribute and make these items accessible, as these first place items are most likely wanted by the others, and to be honest a western hat is something so many people would love to have(unless the event mentioned that the item will be
only given to the winner which is something I don't see in this thread)
Prizes: Top Design gets their design created and put into the ToriShop for all to enjoy
It was mentioned to be
"created", not "
immediately ported and released", as the IFs can optimize your model or even create it from the grounds up to make it look better - you will still be credited for both the idea and design.
FYI: Low polygon hats' usually have between 20 to 900 polygons at the
very maximum, so your hat, for no reason, includes more polygons than needed even though it is simple.
I even made a quick version of your hat yesterday within half an hour and got 624 polygons in order to prove that, while not risking that much of quality loss, and to be honest it can be even furtherly optimized. It still needs UV but I am sorta busy and the IFs know and model much better than I do.
But then again, the team is small compared to the other sections like the ES - they are busy as well(and iirc it's the exam period of the year) so I hope this explains why your item requires an entire make-over by the team, which could take some time.
If you want the item to be for yourself and yourself
only, then you have no other options but to either become an Item Forger/ToriLegend or create your own exclusive item off the Nabi Store(which won't happen as one of the requirements are that the object does not exceed 1,000 polygons, and yours does).
Offtopic; There is always a first time for everything, and to be honest you made an object that I couldn't even make during my first weeks as a forger, and my older models had the very same problems as yours did. Modeling more will cause you to gain experience - and hey, you might even be eligible to apply for the IFs if you continue on practicing(you get nice rewards~)
