So I saw the notification come up, and after I closed it, the object that housed the message stayed there and only the message was removed



Apart from the archaic way notifications are handled to generally be an eyesore, it just irked me that it was done this way.

Now, i'm not quite sure exactly how the system is set up, it seems like each individual account has some sort of flag which displays notifications which are turned off when the user hits the x. I realize that dropping the current notification system and building one from scratch would be a pain in the ass, so why not have the x button remove the notification container as well as flagging it as seen?

Doesn't it disappear when you reload the page? It's completely gone for me.

It does, but the fact that you have to reload the page for it to disappear is annoying and can be changed in about 1 extra line of code, ~3 including possible conditionals checking if there are any other notifications.
