What are bumpmap or bumbmap..whatever you call it

What are bumpmap texture items?

hey soft,check this images side by side:



this changes the texture depending on the angle
and the position of the light,and it gives a pseudo-3d effect to it.

Bumpmaps essentialy give more depth to a texture, making the texture look more 3d instead of a flat image. They are pretty cool if you know how to use them, a lot of players just put their original head texture on the bumpmap slot as well as their 128, 256 or 512 texture slot, which isnt the right way to do it. If you want to know how to correctly use it, im sure there are other threads that will tell you,

just download the images and press left right left right rapidly,you will
see the difference.


or justy dl and lp me,and look at me with bumpmap off and on in options.

Ye...now i saw the difference..

but there's another question: Do I need shaders turned on to see the effect of bumpmapping?

there is some effect with shaders off,but because of the low 128
quality,they look like crap.

Ye...Shaders always a problem...
