What would be the best headphones for listening primarily to Heavy Metal (mostly Melodic Death metal)? The max I'm willing to pay is around $300

MS1 or Grado SR225 or AD900

MS1/SR225 rock hard
AD900 has a nice big soundscape

Neither are particularly bassy if thats an issue (you'll adjust to any sound, though so its not really an issue IMO)

Grado SR225 or Alessandro MS1

If you live outside of america go the MS1. Do not go SR325 or MS2
Just did some quick research on the MS1 and it looks really good. Thanks for the help.
Moo, given your autophilia, I want your opinion on Bose.
I listened to some piano music at best buy, on some bose head huggers. They were extremely comfy, and seemed to have a pretty rich sound, at the time.

Edit:
These look epic, Moo. I might actually consider getting them.

Bose? Way Overpriced...
Alright I went with the impulse and I have now ordered the Grado SR225.

I really hope it will be worth it, they were quite pricey, luckily I have saved for just this so is no problem. I think I will like these.

I was going to buy the AD900 but couldn't find any site that would import them for me.

Will let you know when I get them about my reaction, that is of course they don't get caught by pirates, but I hardly believe that will happen in the baltic sea, I see no reason for any boat to go to the baltic sea either if the shipment only takes place in Sweden, hmm...

Thank ye' swabby,

I need some earbuds i can use in school with my ipod or just to take around with me places or soemthin. Willin to spend ~$50 for them. Isolation would be nice so i dont annoy people around me in class. Pretty much listen to rock/metal so i dont need crazy bass or anything.

If you can stretch your budget a little
http://www.head-direct.com/products.php?k=vsonic for slightly bassy
http://www.head-direct.com/products.php?k=re0 for accurate/analytical.

http://www.head-direct.com/product_detail.php?p=23 if you cant stretch it

http://www.amazon.com/Etymotic-Resea...8819337&sr=8-1 if you really really really need huge amounts of isolation (you probably dont and the others will be fine).
