There is no "best operating system" they all have their perks and their flaws, theirs just witch do you prefer.

I like windows7 because its the only OS with DirectX11 support atm.

Also, linux mint, and crunchbang linux FTW

Windows XP won't be able to utilize directX 11

So all the new games coming out wouldn't look as good on xp :c

I enjoy using Linux (specially the Linux Mint or Ubuntu distributions, Crunchbang is nice too) because its a whole new non-linear experience, it run faster, its free and have a bunch of free software, and it has the capability to evolve much quicker due to its participative community. I also like the concept.
Contrary to what the general consensus is (on how linux is much more complex and less user-friendly), some tasks on distros like Ubuntu are incredibly much easier and simple to do in it than in Windows... For example the Software Center in Ubuntu is a native powerful tool that allows us to search, install and remove applications with one or 2 clicks. Its that easy... Plus most of the time you don't even have to fuck around with drivers since it should be able to automatically recognize the large majority of your hardware whereas in Windows you have to install hardware drivers. And I think I don't even have to talk about how much more secure it is...

These are just some basic examples. I think that the more people use linux, the better it will get. Its a powerful OS.
Its also - by far - the best OS for netbooks. If you don't play modern games or don't need to work on some incompatible software (with no open source alternative or doesn't run with Wine - well you can still run it on a Virtual Machine but that would count as using another OS) then Linux is probably the best option. Fast, secure, 100% free, totally customizable... Its like an utopia.

lol well windows is probably the best because its simple ( or used to be)
but macs are more user friendly, but you cant play some types of games on it, but you don't get as many viruses so you can whatch all the porn you want.
