So about a year ago I bought a set and the link that I was given worked at the time. However now it says the file that I requested is not there. I forgot the artist and do 4shared files randomly disappear over time?

Probably. They don't have all the server space to include everything so unless you constantly visited it, it was probably deleted. If you know what it looked like, maybe we can help try and find the artist.

4shared probably deletes older files, or random files.. don't trust those types of sites for storage.. what I'd do if I was you (if you find the set) is save it in an email (as attachment) or on a cloud service. of course flashdrives and harddrives are the best alternatives.
