How do they get those?

When you login, type this in the login box:

Username: [ClanName]metalcross

Then just login and it should work.

Just add it when you login, it won't change the account you are using or something like that.

They're just clan-tags as explained above.

Don't add a tag unless you're in the clan, they can be very touchy about it & it could result in a ban.

^^^what he said. and don't get confused ny trying to log-in to the forums with your tag on. been there done that.

Probably too little too late to answer the question, but yeah, it's only because underscores were supported back then.
