Getting a laptop
Time for a generic thread.

I will be, in about a month, getting $500-$600 to spend on a laptop. I was wondering what laptops where out there that where good for the price. Here are some of my things:

Generic browsing
Doesnt need a large screen
Battery life is rather important
Base line gaming, like league of legends and terraria. But better is better.
A CD drive.
Relatively portable, though I will be getting a bag, so this may not be as important.

Any help would be very nice.

It may take a couple weeks because I ordered my laptop and it took about 2 weeks to get here. Depending on your location, you may get a laptop faster. Newegg is a pretty trustworthy site.

I want specific ideas, this doesn't really help me all that much. More so since two of them are above $600 and the other link doesn't even work.

I googled a bit and this looks like a decent choice: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lenovo-Z40-E...item3cfa30ac86

These are my filters:

I didn't see a lot of good choices in the <15" <$600 that even had a graphics card at all tbh.
The Z40 has a GT820M, here's a LoL gameplay on the same gpu: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnUYQM9q4Kc
Note they had the graphics on ultra, I'd personally set it to the lowest, but their FPS was still passable (again I'd put it on lowest and aim for maximum fps).
<Faint> the rules have been stated quite clearly 3 times now from high staff
how important if framerate for you?

I recommend a Lenovo g500. It's what I use and works well for minor gaming. It uses an intel4000hd graphics card which can run your BF4 at 25fps. ;P

The only downside it might cause you is that the screen is bigish and it's not the MOST portable computer there is.

The cooling is good.

I got mine off of amazon for around 400$. The price ranges from 400-700$ depending on how/where you buy it from.

I think it would be worth looking into.

Errr I like it a lot and use it for basically what you describe.

Chickster: I literally don't know why I did it.
Or you can trying saving up for Black Friday at Best Buy, AlienWare laptops had a major decrease in prices last year, I bought mine for 890$ + Tax. Or you can buy AlienWare parts and put them in your current laptop, it's a lot of work but it's worth it. If other people can do that so can I.
Haha! Ur mad!

I dont feel alienware is worth the price. Its a lot of slapped on extras. And without a job, saving up is harsh.
