we played with a online game launcher through lan lobby ingame, need to try the faf version soon!
there are different maps for player amount like 1vs1, 2vs2, 4vs4
you can put players in a group and they can share ressources and built units during fight
the option possibility is large best game asap
In addition to what smaiva said:
Its can be an extremely teamfocused rts(one reason why a clan would be useful in this game) because you share every resource you dont use or store with your teammates and you can help build every unit/building of your teammates , too. Both of this is more common in the lategame of a map,in the early game everyone usually needs every resource for himself to build the base etc.
The rescourcemanagment alone is a topic on its own,its called "eco" in faf,and is enough for the average player to get good at it.
In the meantime tho, you also have to manage your basebuilding, your unitsbuilding(and immediatly put these units to use somehow) and assist your team if needed.
It can get EXTREMELY multitasking and micromangament heavy. Its not a (usually)chill game like toribash, lol,it can be very intense from the start.
The units alone are seperated in land, air and navy but sometimes there are overlaps (factionspecific, there are 4 factions btw ) which you will notice once you see a huge seadestroyer suddenly grow legs and walk on land like a spider, lol.
More regarding teamplay:usually the roles every player plays in a team are clear,eg. one is the landplayer ,one is the airplayer, one is navy player and one is the eco player(always map dependent).
At certain points in the game there are opportunites for one team to try to push the frontlines and gain an advantage or even a quick victory but in order for it to be succesfull coordinated teamplay is of paramount importance(against decent players at least),e.g. one player focused on building a strong land army but is vulnerable to airunits ,the airplayer has to see the push and send in his airunits for protection while the navyplayer maybe gives firesupport from the seaside if possible.
There are also other things the other teammembers can do,like building a nukelauncher (or nuke defense) or building massive artileries which can shoot across the whole map or experimental units(HUGE robots and stuff)
And intelligence is also ultraimportant(scouting with specialized units) to see what the enemy team is up to and building.
You cant destroy the building of a massive artilerie or an experimental unit if u dont know it is being build.
And there are even more possibilities.

What baffels my mind the most everytime is the fact that all of this is driven by the community alone since many years now.
Keep in mind this game was made in 2007,tb was made in 2006.
