Quite possibly you will be either able to merge your account with a steam account, or there will be yet another user database in use (the current one but migrated) which can be linked to a steam acc.

Yeah, if you use steam you'll have to login through steam, launch toribash, then login through toribash assuming you have neither on remember me. If you don't have steam and don't plan on getting it you don't have to worry because nothing will change for you. If you do have steam then well you might have to log in a little more but you will be able to play with friends easier (i'm assuming you're going to be able to use steams invite system) and toribash will get more recognition with other steam users.
