Like other people have been saying, this game looks really promising mainly because of the new competitive-friendly vibe Nintendo has been giving off lately. I love Sakurai's character choices too, I don't think there's a single new character that I have been disappointed by, and if nothing else the guy is a master at surprising you with his choices.
If any of you guys are aching for a new smash and really can't wait, I will recommend the mod Project M. It's being used in competitive tournaments right now alongside the official games. Super fun, recreates a lot of the melee mechanics in brawl, and even added some new characters from scratch (Mewtwo and Roy)

I pick like to Zelda, Fox or Marth though I can use pretty much any character now.
Zelda's jump forward A kick is deadly like Capn Falcons jump knee attack except Zelda can pull it off a foot before touching the ground probably one of the fastest and strongest moves in the game, also Shiek is a bonus, teleporting/juggling High Priority Needles fast powerful Hold down A attack
Fox I use his down B attack like no tomorrow as well as his shitty gun, I like the grab and down B combo but they didn't have it in Brawl. A well timed Down B meets the priority of any attack whether it be Samus's Hold Down A attack or Ganondorfs B pawnch.
Marth being able to block, counter or turn in mid air with forward or back B truly makes him a nuisance.
Peach is annoying as hell when you fight against someone who can use her well, her attacks are fast and have priority over most attacks in the game on Melee. Same with MetaKnight, because his attacks happen so fast every kik or punch done will be met with like 4 sword slashes giving him the upper hand and most likely damaging you.
