New Custom Computer American Megatrends Problem
Hi guys im looking for fast help in a little issue im having with my new gaming desktop. Last night i just got it working and test ran skyrim on max settings and resolution and it ran fantastic. Also downloaded minecraft and the SEUS shaders and test that out a little, it was a little laggier than skyrim but it was rlly smooth. I started a bunch of other downloads so that over night, they'd all finish. When i get up the next morning, i check the computer and its on a American Megatrends screen and it wont let me boot up :s. It also beeps 4 times when i start it up ( five if u include the first separate beep ). What do i do? I can provide pics if needed.

I'm pretty sure 4 beeps means the motherboard is fucked.

Things to try;
> unplug GPU, sound card and try boot
> try reset the CMOS (google how to!)

Motherboard probably needs replacement.

sounds like your motherboard died. open up your pc and check the heat sinks to see if it spectacularly overheated or something
ok update thanks with the help so far, but i hope you guys are wrong.
heres a pic for more info... can someone confirm that its the problem?

SMART is a monitoring system for harddrives, this means that your harddrive is borked. You should get a new one.

Once you have a new one, install windows on the new one, then you can plug in your old one and in your BIOS settings and disable SMART checking so you can boot even with the faulty drive plugged in.

If you haven't been backing up your important files, I suggest in the future using dropbox to back them up.

if you have another pc in the house, steal its HDD and check.

i find it usefull to get friendly with your local pc place.
when shit goes wrong with one of the PCs in the house i usually just take it down and they check things over with you befor booking it in and charging you anything.
they have the parts there to check with befor you spend anything.
might just be the place i go to though.

better than buying a new HDD and finding out that its not the problem.
