I really like Edgar Allan Poe (wink to AussieCunt), who put a really peculiar atmosphere in his novels. The last edition illustrated by Benjamin Lacombe (no English translation unfortunately) showed really well this dark/gloomy ambience.

Also, I know why you said Edgar for Aussie, lel. Also, I enjoy Poe's work, but he is a bit morbid or at least considered as so, and for his time and all.

Jasper Fforde, picked up one of his books because the cover looked cool in a used book store. He has a very unique way of telling stories.

Dr Seuss is a really good author. Green eggs and ham is one of the more sophisticated books.


also I read poetry more than I read books. I usually enjoy modern poetry, but Thomas Hardy has some poems that I enjoy.
