i have linux and toribash on steam. i bought the music item in the store. when i start a game i dont hear the music the file in it is an oog. file. its 9 seconds is that too long for it?

I think the item you are looking for is "kiai" , where a small clip plays when both players begin the match. I imagine the music item is for a whole song that will play during the time at the main menu (I haven't used it personally so I can't be sure).

Close, you can play music uploaded onto music item using some commands, in general typing /music help. Music isn't limited by length, but by filesize instead, and from what I've heard it has something over 60mb capacity.
Anyway yeah, as Guppy said, for sound at start of fight you need kiai sound. It's max length is 5 seconds.
