I wouldn't go so far to tell someone he's wrong about any existentially questioning topic without hearing their logic first.
Frost dragon, did they tell you why they denied it?

1: We are all probably already in tubes.
2: If It was an 80% chance then yes.

What? What piece of evidence, empirical or logical or otherwise, has convinced you that we are all part of some sort of Matrix-ish, tube fed, perceived illusion?
I feel like you just convinced yourself that reality is more complicated than you feel it is, and you've found that unnecessary complication of an explanation in the Brain-In-a-Vat hypothesis or whatever.
I think the nature of reality is simply that; it is real. I haven't come across a convincing argument that states that our reality must be unreal or an illusion or consists of dreams while my body is tube fed. The theories like brain in a vat are interesting to think about, but not something I think anyone can adhere to. A lot like methodological skepticism.

Scientists have found out that atoms are super small pixels, and frankly, I don't give a shit if the world is real, I have a conscience so I'll just go from there. Think, there is an infinite number of universes out there, and humanity has almost unlocked the secrets of genetic immortality, which will be here withing the next 50-100 years, and yet we still haven't DEFINITELY gotten past the moon? And probably haven't even gone there? Considering all of the astronauts who supposedly went to the moon are lying through their teeth, and there is a radiation belt strong enough to kill a man out side of our atmosphere? I wouldn't be suprised if it was a virtual world considering that atoms break apart lest an observer is watching them.
Frankly if we are all virtual (which we are considering we are made of pixels) then life is meaningless. If not then we'll still kill people and steal for money and power.
The human race is sickening except for a few people.
Also your avatar scares me D:

First of all, when you talk science, you should cite sources. Whether or not the world is made of atoms, pixels, energy, or poop, our conscience isn't really even effected. If the world was made of pixels as opposed to atoms, do you think I'd stop being any less of a moral person because of it?
I sure don't.

Probably haven't even gone there? Whatever, I'll forget that. It's a discussion for another thread. Also, we've sent Voyager almost all the way out of our solar system. If not, how are we getting pictures of the solar system from millions of miles in outer space?
And so what? We haven't explored all our oceans and we're already going in to space. We haven't figured out how our brain can explain for all facets of human behaviour. Is this going to stop us from trying to learn all we can?
I hope not.

Yeah, a discussion for another thread. If you're trolling, I got a laugh. If you're not, I admit that I can't take conspiracy theorists seriously. Also, quite conveniently, there is an essay from NASA that shows how they deal with such radiation, particularly the Van Allen belts:
The simple solution to protection is to remain under the belts [below an altitude of approximately 556 km (? 300 nautical miles)] when in Earth orbit, and to traverse the belts rapidly on the way to outer space.
|
I think you should do a google search on your subject before buying into conspiracies.

Why? Why is there difference between us being virtual or us being atoms separated by electrons?
Our actions and the repercussions of said actions are just as real as the atoms or pixels that supposedly compose our body.
Also, it's probably the nose ring.

P.S. if referencing an entire dissertation is not enough "content" then sorry, I'll just stop posting in the discussion area forever.

That's not very nice, or mature.

They don't want to believe that their brains are in a vat and that everything that they are currently doing, is a falsehood. An illusion, I think the thought of it hurt their egos.
To know that something like that could be happening is a....
Devastating turn around life event?
The emotions would be overwhelming.

I am already a full nihilist by nature so to me reality is as much consistent as a dream.
Considering that like time, reality too is relative, then you can safely say you can be sure of what's real.
We already know that even sane people have mundane hallucinations several times during the day, and that a good part of our memories never actually happened but was created by our brains to fill the void.
I'd accept going, because if you can't tell your perception of reality from the "real reality", then by all means the simulated life in the tube WILL be real.
It's like the Schrodinger's cat. Until some external force interferes, then reality both exists and not exists at the same time.
